BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China and Chad vowed here Friday to develop better cooperative relations between the two armed forces.

"Chinese armed forces attach great importance to the relations with the armed forces of Chad, and we would like to work with Chadian side to lift the tie to a new height," said Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan when met with Chadian President Idriss DebyItno Friday afternoon.

Cao, who is also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and State Councilor, said the cooperation between the two armed forces have developed rapidly since the two nations resumed diplomatic ties on Aug. 6, 2006.

The resumption of diplomatic ties is in the fundamental interests of both peoples, said Cao, adding the two nations have conducted fruitful cooperation in various fields.

Deby, who arrived here Thursday for a state visit, said he is confident for the all-round, multi-sector cooperation with China.

He suggested the two armed forces could carry out more cooperation on personnel training in the future.
