UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met here Friday with his Costa Rican counterpart, Bruno Stagno, and the two agreed to further deepen bilateral ties.

The establishment of full diplomatic relations three months ago has brought bilateral ties to a correct path, and exchanges and cooperation have been conducted in many fields, Yang said at the meeting on the sidelines of the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

China highly values its relations with Costa Rica and will do everything in its power to continue advancing the development of comprehensive and friendly ties between the two countries.

Stagno, for his part, expressed satisfaction over the development of bilateral ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Costa Rica wishes to strengthen high-level exchanges and friendly cooperation, he said.

On Friday, Yang also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem of Vietnam, Foreign Minister Song Min-soon of South Korea, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany and Foreign Minister U Nyan Win of Myanmar.
