Krosa stops Shanghai's several long-haul buses
2007-10-08 02:16:47 Shanghai Daily

SHANGHAI, Oct. 8 -- SEVERAL long distance bus trips from Shanghai to neighboring Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces have been cancelled as the area is being affected by typhoon Krosa.

More than 10 buses bound to the north areas of Jiangsu from the city's South Long Distance Bus Station will be temporarily halted today, according to Eastday.com.

Buses heading for the Zhoushan and Putuoshan islands in Zhejiang are available in the afternoon only. The detailed departure times depend on the weather.

Other bus lines are not affected.

Ticket holders can get refunds, said the report.

Krosa slammed into China's southeast coast yesterday and weakened to a tropical storm after coming ashore on the eastern coast yesterday afternoon.

Shanghai is under the effect of Krosa, which has brought strong winds, rain and chilly weather.

The city's meteorological bureau yesterday issued a yellow typhoon alert at 2:30pm, the second-lowest alert for a typhoon.
