China, Japan to hold top-level economic dialogue

TOKYO, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Japanese and Chinese government officials Friday agreed here to hold top-level economic dialogues between the two countries as early as possible in Beijing, diplomats said.

The two delegations, led by Chinese Assistant Minister of Commerce Chen Jian and Japanese Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Masaharu Kohno respectively, agreed that the top-level dialogues will upgrade economic cooperation between the two neighbors and further promote the construction of strategic, mutually beneficial economic ties.

At the economic partnership meeting held in Tokyo, the two sides exchanges ideas on the time and theme of the top-level economic dialogues and also discussed over macro-economic policies, energy-saving, trade and investment.

Chinese and Japanese leaders announced in April the launch of top-level economic dialogue mechanism between the two countries.

The Chinese delegations consisted of officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Foreign Ministry, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Finance and other ministries, while the Japanese side included officials from 13 ministries such as the foreign, economic, farm, health, transport and other ministries.
