NANNING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan has urged local officials to pay more attention to environmental protection when seeking economic growth.

Zeng made the remarks during his recent inspection tour to south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Zeng urged local officials to unswervingly deepen economic reform and bring economic growth to a more sustainable way by developing green agriculture, pharmacy, tourism and other industries in which the region boasts advantages.

Conservation of energy resources, efficient use of land and promotion of circular economy should be prioritized on local governments' agenda, Zeng said.

The region's picturesque natural scenery should be protected from being polluted, he added.

Zeng also urged local party and governmental officials to study and implement the Scientific Outlook on Development, which was proposed by the central leadership and stresses sustainable, balanced development.
