Injured Indian sailor rescued by Chinese helicopter

JINAN, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- An injured Indian sailor on a vessel off east China was rescued by a Chinese helicopter on Thursday and admitted to a Shandong Province hospital for treatment.

The sailor suffered serious leg fractures on the Cyprus-registered vessel "Santos Success" about 80 nautical miles east of the northern Tianjin port on Thursday morning, according to the Beihai No.1 Rescue Flying Squad under China's Ministry of Communications.

A helicopter from the squad based in Penglai, Shandong, air-lifted the injured man at around 13:00 and transported him to Penglai City People's Hospital for treatment.

He was in stable condition. The cause of his injury was unclear.
