BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Xi Jinping, a member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with Singaporean Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew Friday, vowing to strengthen friendly cooperation between the two countries. Xi, also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said China attaches great importance to the friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation with Singapore, and is ready to learn from each other in the economic construction and jointly push forward bilateral relations. Xi said China welcomes Singapore to continue participating in China's regional development strategies and deepen economic cooperation with Chinese provinces and cities to realize win-win results. Lee hailed China's political stability, rapid economic growth and great social changes since its reform and opening up, saying the achievements have not only brought benefits to the Chinese people, but also made important contribution to peace and prosperity in the region and the world at large. He said Singapore believes that China's steady development is conducive to Singapore and the world and the country will continue to promote cooperation with China in various fields. Lee is on a visit to China from Nov. 14 to 17 at the invitation of the Chinese government.
