BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Wang Zhongyu, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Tuesday met the Korean Conference on Religion and Peace (KCRP) delegation from the Republic of Korea (ROK). The ROK delegation, headed by KCRP Chairman Choi Gun Duk, arrived in China Tuesday at the invitation of the China Committee on Religion and Peace (CCRP). Apart from Beijing, the delegation will also visit east China's Shandong Province and Jiangsu Province. Wang said that the KCRP and CCRP were both members of the Asian Conference on Religion and Peace (ACRP) and World Conference on Religion and Peace (WCRP), and have continuously made progress in bilateral exchanges and cooperation. This visit by KCRP would play a positive role in enhancing the communication and cooperation between KCRP and CCRP, increasing the friendship between the people of the two countries, in particular that between the religious communities of the two countries, and promoting the overall development of the China-ROK all-round cooperative partnership, Wang noted. Choi said this was the first time that the leaders and representatives of seven religions from the ROK to form a delegation to visit China, stressing that frequent exchanges between the religious communities of the two countries were necessary since such activities could cement bilateral friendship and cooperation. The KCRP and the CCRP signed an agreement on establishing bilateral exchange mechanism in November 2006. This was the first time that the CCRP invited the KCRP to China according to the agreement.
