BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Jiang Zhenghua, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, China's top legislature, met here on Monday with Secretary-General of the Iranian National Trust Party Mahdi Karroubi.

Hailing the traditional friendship between China and Iran, Jiang said the two countries have further strengthened exchanges and cooperation in various areas in a principle of developing political trust, mutual-beneficial economy and coordination in multi-lateral affairs.

Concerning bilateral parliamentary exchanges, Jiang said the two parliaments have maintained sound cooperative ties over the years, which contributed to increasing peoples' mutual understanding and the overall development of bilateral ties.

Karroubi appreciated the support and understanding the Chinese government and people offered to his country, expecting closer cooperation between both sides in diversified areas including politics, economy, technology and culture.
