3 killed after truck ploughs into residential building in SW China

CHONGQING, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A truck ploughed into a three-storey residential building and killed three people in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality Wednesday, said the local police source.
The accident happened at about 4 a.m. when a local truck was reversing and trying to make a U-turn in Baqiao township of Dadukou district in Chongqing. It bumped into a roadside residential building and knocked it down, trapping six people in the debris.
Rescuers recovered all six people. However, three had died from severe injuries and the others had been sent to hospital.
The driver of the truck has been held by the police and an investigation into the accident is underway.
