WUHAN, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Li Hongzhong was appointed vice and acting governor of central China's Hubei Province Thursday, according to the provincial legislative body.
Li, born in 1956, got the post at the 30th session of the standing committee of the 10th Hubei Provincial People's Congress.
The provincial legislature also approved the resignation of Luo Qingquan, former Hubei governor.
Li was one of the 167 alternate members of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) elected at the 17th CPC National Congress held in Beijing on October 21.
Li, former secretary of the CPC Shenzhen municipal committee, had been named deputy Party chief of Hubei by the CPC Central Committee before the new appointment.
Li, of Han nationality, is a native of Shandong Province. He joined the CPC in 1976.
