BEIJING, Dec.10 (Xinhua) -- The 6th plenary session of the 13th Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPDWP), one of China's eight democratic parties, was held on Monday.
It was decided at the plenum to convene the 14th all-party congress from Dec. 11 to 15, at which the party's new central committee will be selected.
The session heard and examined a work report by the standing committee of the CPDWP's 13th Central Committee and approved a report by the 13th Central Committee, as well as a draft amendment to the CPDWP's Constitution to be submitted to the upcoming congress.
CPWDP chairman Jiang Zhenghua delivered a report by the party's13th Central Committee at the plenum.
"The upcoming 14th national congress will be a key meeting held in the pivotal stage of China's reform and development," said Jiang, who is also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
The CPWDP was founded in Shanghai on Aug. 9, 1930, earlier than the country's other democratic parties. Responding to the Communist Party of China (CPC), it actively engaged in anti-Japanese activities.
Its members are mainly senior and leading intellectuals from the health and medical sectors.
The CPWDP has branches in 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government, with more than 80,000 members.
