MADRID, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- A visiting delegation from China's Academy of Engineering (CAE) said here Tuesday that it would enhance cooperation with Spain's Royal Academy of Engineering (SRAE) in energy and telecommunication technologies.

Du Xiangwan, vice president of the CAE, told Xinhua after a meeting with representatives from the SRAE that the first ever visit by the CAE to Spain was aimed at setting a substantial cooperation plan with its Spanish counterpart.

Du noted that Spain was quite strong in renewable sources research, "clean coal" technologies and telecommunication techonologies, in which the Chinese engineers took a keen interest.

The two academies will carry out various cooperation projects covering personnel training, environmental protection, exchange of visits by scholars and students, among others, said Figueiras Vidal, president of the Spanish academy, who also expressed his optimism about the prospect of the cooperation.
