Chinese ambassador hails China-Russia ties

MOSCOW, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to Russia Liu Guchang has hailed the China-Russia relations and the contribution made by the Russia-China Friendship Association in boosting bilateral ties.

In a speech at a New Year party in honor of the association on Thursday evening, Liu spoke highly of the Year of China theme events held in Russia this year, saying it promoted the good-neighborly friendship and strategic partnership of coordination to a new high.

The Russia-China Friendship Association has done a great deal and played an important role in boosting the all-round and rapid development of bilateral ties and in cultivating friendship and understanding between the two peoples, Liu said.

"We are bearing responsibility and confidence in the course of exploring a much more rosy future for China-Russia relations by inheriting the past success, striving for future progress and exerting joint efforts," he said.

Some 60 Russian and Chinese scholars, cultural officials, diplomats, students and representatives from all walks of life attended the party.
