KATHMANDU, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- A 28-member Chinese delegation is leaving here on Saturday after the two-day "China Tibetan Culture Forum - Kathmandu" ended Friday.

With the topic of "Boosting the friendly exchanges between China and Nepal and promoting the preservation and development of Tibetan culture", this forum was jointly hosted by the China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture (CAPDTC) and Arniko Society of Nepal.

Four common understandings were reached at this forum.

Firstly, the long and rich Tibetan culture is a part and parcel of the Chinese culture and represents a common treasure of the human civilization. It is the common responsibility of visionary people of China and foreign countries to preserve and develop Tibetan culture, which is also an important part of cultural exchanges between China and Nepal.

Secondly, the maintenance of national unity is the prerequisite of preservation and development of Tibetan culture. The fast economic and social development of China, especially the unity and stability of Tibet is the basic guarantee of the preservation and development of Tibetan culture, which also plays an important role in promoting economic and social development of Tibet.

Thirdly, in today's world with constant development of pluralistic cultures, every national culture needs to strengthen exchanges with others to maintain its vitality for further prosperity. The Tibetan culture also needs to not only inherit the tradition and retain its characteristics, but also open wider to the outside world.

Fourthly, the preservation and development of Tibetan culture needs high attention from the Chinese government and support and participation of the Chinese people from different sectors and international friends. Nepalese people of various circles actively support such endeavor of the Chinese government and NGOs.

This forum was warmly responded by Nepalese of different fields and its mainstream media, who speak highly of this forum, saying that it has deepened the understanding of Nepalese people of different circles on the excellent Tibetan culture and has great significance in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Nepal and boosting the friendship between the two peoples.
