BEIJING, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top political advisory body, vowed here on Wednesday to work harder to investigate social problems and collect public opinion.
CPPCC members should go to the people, seek their opinions and reflect them in proposals to the government, said Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, at a meeting of the CPPCC chairman and vice chairpersons held here.
They should also conduct investigations and offer advice on major issues and social problems, he said.
Over the past five years, CPPCC members have put together 253 research papers on key political, economic and social issues, according to the statement issued after the meeting.
