10 people missing after illegal ferry sinks in Shanghai

BEIJING, Jan 11, 2008 (AFP) - Ten people went missing after the illegal ferry they were travelling on capsized and sank near Shanghai on Friday after striking the cable of an anchored vessel in thick fog, state media reported.

A total of 22 people, including two sailors, were aboard the ferry, Xinhua said, citing Shanghai maritime authorities.

Twelve people were rescued, and authorities were searching for the others.
