THE Shanghai Meteorological Bureau has begun to broadcast English weather forecasts twice a day on International Channel Shanghai, Wenhui Daily reported today.
The program, Weather Forecast, will be broadcast after ICS's Shanghai Noon news at 12pm and News at Ten at 10pm. The forecast is presented by a foreign anchor, the report added.
The bureau began to prepare for the program last year, according to the report.
The program is the first step in the bureau's efforts to better serve foreigners. The bureau will offer more services for foreigners in Shanghai before the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
More than 150,000 expatriates live in Shanghai while about six million foreign tourists visit the city every year, according to the report.
