BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese leaders including President and CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao and his predecessor Jiang Zemin as well as other top officials have mourned the death of Gu Ming, who once worked as secretary of late Premier Zhou Enlai.
Gu died on January 1, at the age of 88, according to an official press release reaching here Friday.
Those who have shown their sympathy to Gu's death included Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Zeng Qinghong, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang, Zhou Yongkang and other senior officials.
Gu, a native of Kunshan in east China's Jiangsu Province, joined the Grand Anti-Imperialism Alliance in 1933 and the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1938.
Since 1949, the year when the People's Republic of China was founded, he had worked in periods as leader of a chemical factory, secretary for then premier Zhou Enlai, and vice commissioner of several state commissions, vice secretary-general of the State Council, director-general of the Research Center on the Study of Economic Laws, and vice chairman of the Law Committee of the National Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC).
