Chinese officials expound "concept of scientific development" to French media

PARIS, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of Chinese officials on Friday outlined China's scientific concept of development to French media and foreign reporters.

At a press conference at the Chinese Embassy, the four-member delegation, comprised of officials from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the State Council, answered questions on politics, economy, foreign affairs, the environment and social issues.

Shen Chunyao, an NPC official who led the delegation, said the initiative was a new diplomatic move by the nation, as it is the first time that China has sent such a delegation to a foreign country since the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The delegation, which arrived here Wednesday for a four-day visit to France, exchanged views with people from all walks of life on China's strategy of development and scored positive results, he added.

During meetings with French lawmakers, scholars and businessmen, the Chinese officials expounded the scientific concept of development" established by the CPC and China's strategy of development in such fields as politics, economy, culture and social construction.
