BEIJING, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Jia Chunwang, the procurator-general of China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), pledged here on Tuesday to improve internal supervision of prosecutors, especially senior ones.

"We shall improve the inside supervision system in procuratorates, closing loopholes that might lead to corruption and misuse of power," he told a meeting.

As a major supervisory measure, procuratorates of higher levels would continue to send inspectors to lower bodies, he said.

The SPP sent two inspection teams to two provincial procuratorates last year.

Jia also urged procuratorates across the country to keep a close eye on the behavior of their senior prosecutors.

The SPP would set up a nationwide database to record all prosecutorial misconduct, he said.

Last year, procuratorates audited 383 senior prosecutors when their terms finished, and 29 senior prosecutors were disciplined for failing to supervise their subordinates.
