France congratulates overseas Chinese on Spring Festival

PARIS, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- France's National Assembly Wednesday staged a party to mark the Chinese Lunar New Year, sending a celebratory message to Chinese people living in France.
It is the first time the Palais Bourbon, the headquarters of the French National Assembly, has organized a Chinese Spring Festival party, said Michel Albion, president of the Sino-France Friendship Association in the Assembly.
Chinese people are welcoming the Year of the Rat which starts from Thursday, said Albion.
The rat is the smartest animal among the 12 zodiac signs in Chinese traditional culture and is a symbol of prosperity, he added.
Albion said he wished the two countries would make more achievements in economy, trade, finance and investment in the forthcoming Rat year.
Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jinjun, dozens of French parliamentarians and a number of Chinese living in France attended the party.
