Woman gets 3 years for smothering twin sister to death in SW China

CHENGDU, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese woman was sentenced to three year's jail for smothering her twin sister to death, a court in the southwestern Sichuan Province ruled on Tuesday.
Liao Tingting, 20, smothered her mentally-disabled twin, Liao Juanjuan, with a pillow in a Pengzhou City hospital on Aug. 22, the city court heard.
Liao went with her mother to visit her bedridden sister and was the only one taking care of the ill in the ward that night. She reported herself to police after committing the crime.
The court found her guilty of murder, but mitigated the sentence upon forensic test results that indicated she suffered depression disorders at the time of the crime.
Her sentence was suspended for five years.
