HANGZHOU, March 10 (Xinhua) -- A man in east China's Zhejiang Province was sentenced to life in prison for selling fake cigarettes worth millions of yuan, a local court said on Monday.
Li Kuancai, the ring leader, received life sentence and had all his wealth confiscated. He was found guilty of selling 5,735 boxes of fake cigarettes worth more than 7.6 million yuan (1.07 million U.S. dollars) with his accomplices since 2005, according to a ruling by the Shaoxing Municipal Intermediate People's Court on Monday.
It was largest case concerned with fake cigarettes in the city, a court official said.
Li's 10 accomplices received sentences ranging from six months to 15 years in jail for selling fake commodities and spoiling the market order, according to the court.
