Seven killed, 36 injured in S China truck explosion

GUANGZHOU, March 13 (Xinhua) -- An explosion that occurred when two parked trucks were transferring their cargo killed seven and injured 36 in south China's Guangdong Province on Thursday afternoon.

The blast occurred around 3:40 p.m. in Hongkangdongzhu district in Guangzhou, the provincial capital, according to the city government.

All of the injured, including two serious, were sent to hospital for treatment.

Witnesses said the incident occurred when workers were moving the unknown cargo from truck to truck. The explosion also created a fire that was extinguished around 5 p.m.

The cause was currently being investigated.
