TAIYUAN, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Investigators have identified the eight men killed in a cave collapse in north China's Shanxi Province as workers from the neighboring Shaanxi Province, according to the Shanxi Provincial government.
Meanwhile, Zhou Lianshen, the manager of the brickyard where the cave-in happened, has turned himself in to the local police.
The eight men suffocated to death when two earthen caves collapsed at 11:20 p.m. at Macun Village of Xiaoyi Township, Wenshui County, about 75 kilometers south of Taiyuan, the provincial capital, said county government investigators.
The men were called on by Zhou to clear up the brickyard, which was closed by the local government last year, and had its electricity and water supplies cut off.
