Chinese vice-premier meets former French president

BEIJING, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese vice-premier Wang Qishan met here Tuesday with former French president Valery Giscard d'Estaing.

Applauding the former French president's effort to push forward the China-France ties, Wang said currently the two nations enjoy growing momentum of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, with remarkable achievements made in economic and trade cooperation.

To cement and further advance the China-France friendship accords with fundamental interests of the two nations and the two peoples, Wang said, hoping that France will join hands with China to safeguard the overall situation of bilateral relations.

Wang urged French business circle to take an active part in China's economic development.

The former French president said French entrepreneurs will continue their economic and trade cooperation with China.

The former president was here to attend the 14th China-France Economic Seminar from April 10 to 11 at China's economic hub of Shanghai.
