WASHINGTON, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The White House on Monday reaffirmed U.S. President George W. Bush's attendance at the Beijing Olympics this summer.

"I think we've answered this question many times. And I don't think I have anything new to add to it," White House spokesman Tony Fratto told reporters at a press briefing, responding to questions related to Bush's attendance at the Beijing Olympics.

"The Olympics will take place, and we expect the Olympic -- American qualifying Olympic athletes to participate in those games," he said.

President Bush agreed to go to the Beijing Olympics at a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao in Australia last September during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

Bush himself and other senior U.S. officials have said on several occasions that the president will attend the Beijing Olympics and believed the Olympics is not a political event but a chance for athletes to compete at the top of their class.
