BEIJING, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Gou Zhongwen was appointed Beijing vice mayor on Friday.
The appointment came at the third session of the Standing Committee of the 13th Beijing Municipal People's Congress.
Niu Youcheng, a former Beijing vice mayor, will no longer hold the post.
Gou, 51, a native of Zhenyuan County of northwest China's Gansu Province, joined the Communist Party of China in 1976.
After receiving a Master's degree in engineering in 1989, he has held posts in the electric science and software industries. In October 2000, he became the head of China Center for Information Industry Development under the Ministry of Information Industry.
From February 2002 to March 2008, Gou worked as the vice minister of the Information Industry which was integrated into the Ministry of Industry and Information last month.
