HONG KONG, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Cathay Pacific Airways, the largest Hong Kong-based airline, announced Monday it will launch freighter services to Houston and Miami cities of the U.S. in September.

Cathay Pacific said that on Sept. 2, the airline is expected to begin a thrice-weekly service, departing Hong Kong every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. A Boeing 747-400F freighter will be used for the new service.

With the addition of Miami and Houston, Cathay Pacific will serve a total of eight major cargo hubs in the United States.

"Miami is the leading gateway to South and Central America while Houston is an important center for the oil business. Both cities will boost our network and provide better access and connectivity for our customers between Asia and North America via our home hub in Hong Kong," said Cathay Pacific Director General Manager Cargo Ron Mathison.
