U.S. gov't assistance to China accumulates to $2.8 mln

BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Up to Thursday morning, the U.S. government assistance to China's quake-hit areas had accumulated to 2.8 million U.S. dollars, said U.S. Ambassador to China Clark Randt here Thursday.

Randt said the assistance included the extra assistance and medical equipment provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development. The U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) will also provide China with satellite images on the destroyed reservoirs, roads and bridges in quake-hit areas.

The U.S. Red Cross has donated 10 million U.S. dollars, according to the embassy.
