BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Wang Jiarui, a Communist Party of China (CPC) senior official, met here on Tuesday with Indian Sheila Dikshit, the Delhi Chief Minister.
Wang, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, briefed Dikshit on the current situation surrounding the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan Province, and expressed his gratitude to the valuable support extended by the Indian government and people.
He said, as near neighbors, the China-India friendly relations would be reciprocal for the two countries, and even benefit other nations. The CPC will stand readily to push forward China-India ties through party-to-party exchanges.
Echoing those remarks, Dikshit said India and its people would continue to assist China's quake-relief work. She was convinced China could overcome its current difficulties and stage a successful Olympic Games in August.
Dikshit also agreed on Wang's goodwill suggestions in stepping up China-India relations.
