Death toll reaches 68,977

The death toll from the massive earthquake has now reached almost 69-thousand. Nearly 370-thousand people were injured and another 18-thousand remain missing.

China's national disaster relief center has undertaken a comprehensive evaluation of the earthquake. The disaster evaluation map is based on satellite photos and other information from quake-hit zones. The map shows the degree of damage in over 130 cities and counties across the provinces of Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi.

The disaster relief center will present a detailed analysis of the earthquake after carrying out a thorough investigation in the quake-hit areas.
