BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- China attaches importance to relations with Germany and is willing to work with the country to promote bilateral ties to develop in a healthy and stable way, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang said Thursday.
Qin was commenting on the upcoming visit to China by German Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the regular press conference here.
Qin said that China and Germany will exchange views on bilateral ties and other issues of common concern. "If the German side shows interest in issues relating to Tibet, we'd like to introduce the relevant information and elaborate our principles and standpoint," he added.
China-Germany relations have been developing with good momentum in the past few years, Qin said, stressing that after the devastating earthquake in southwestern Sichuan Province, the German government and people have offered a large amount of relief materials and funds.
China is willing to strengthen the political trust and cooperation with Germany on the basis of mutual respect, equality, reciprocity and properly handling the major issues of mutual concern, Qin said.
Steinmeier is to visit China from June 13-15.
