BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Tuesday called on political advisors to earnestly perform their duties and contribute more to national development.
Jia told a seminar that political advisors should "stick to the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and uphold the rule of law and the socialism with Chinese characteristics".
The multi-party cooperation and political consultation system should continue to be optimized, said Jia, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) chairman and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
"Political advisors are representatives of various circles and organizations. They should shoulder the responsibility to serve the people," Jia said.
The four-day seminar was attended by 296 of the more than 2,200 national political advisors.
