BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping returned to Beijing Thursday morning following his five-nation Asian tour.

On June 17-25, Xi went on an official good-will visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and paid an official visit to Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Yemen, at the invitation of these countries' leaders.

This was the first ever overseas trip that Xi made since he assumed office as Vice President earlier this year.

It represented a tour of "friendship, exchange and cooperation," said Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui, who accompanied Xi during the visit.
