ZHENGZHOU, July 29 (Xinhua) -- A farmer allegedly stabbed four relatives to death and injured two others in a family dispute, police in Fangcheng county in central China's Henan Province said on Tuesday.

The tragedy occurred at about 9 a.m. on Monday when a farmer surnamed Liu, from Wushenmiao village, allegedly killed his wife, father-in-law, two children of his wife's brother, and injured his wife's sister and her daughter.

Police said Liu had heard that his wife, a migrant worker who worked with her father in another city, had returned to her family a few days previously without informing him. He rushed to the house of his father-in-law and brawled with his wife.

Liu, after being scolded by his parents-in-law, broke into the kitchen to seize a knife, and began stabbed those around him, said police.

Police have detained Liu. Doctors said Liu's sister-in-law was in coma in hospital and her daughter was in a stable condition.
