Vice premier: China to enhance friendly ties with Turkmenistan

BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang said here Saturday China will strengthen cooperation in various fields with Turkmenistan to raise the level of bilateral cooperation.

Li made the remarks in a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Khydyr Saparlyiev, who is here attending the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Li said China and Turkmenistan share high mutual trust in politics, practical economic cooperation, and extensive cultural exchanges, and support each other in international affairs.

"China is ready to work with Turkmenistan to promote bilateral reciprocal cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, energy, security and culture, among others, and continuously raise the level of bilateral cooperation," he said.

Saparlyiev said Turkmenistan attached great importance to developing friendly and cooperative ties with China, and would make joint efforts with China to comprehensively deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields.
