DUSHANBE, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao left the Tajik capital of Dushanbe Thursday for Turkmenistan after paying a state visit to Tajikistan and attending the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
In Dushanbe, President Hu and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rakhmon held talks on the further development of bilateral relations. The two leaders pledged to push forward the good-neighborly and mutually-beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The two leaders also promised that efforts would be made to enhance cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and also to safeguard regional peace and stability.
The two presidents signed a statement on furthering good-neighborly and friendly cooperation.
During Hu's visit, the two countries signed documents on cooperation in the sectors of politics, economy and trade, finance and culture.
In Dushanbe, President Hu also attended the SCO summit, which focused on security, economic and cultural cooperation within the bloc.
Founded in 2001, the SCO groups China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Turkmenistan will be the last leg of President Hu's three-nation tour. Before his trip to Tajikistan, he had already visited the Republic of Korea.
