Chinese State Councilor meets with Vietnamese party chief

HANOI, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Meng Jianzhu met with General Secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nong Duc Manh here on Friday on bilateral ties and cooperation.

Manh said Vietnam attached great importance on relations between China and Vietnam, and always wanted to be a good neighbor of China.

Vietnam is pleased to see the great achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in the improvement of economy and people's livelihood, he said.

For his part, Meng said to strengthen bilateral relations serve the fundamental interests of the two countries and two peoples. China would like to work together with Vietnam to implement consensus already reached by leaders of the two countries, and advance the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Meng, who is also Chinese Public Security Minister, said the cooperation on law enforcement between China and Vietnam has made great development in recent years. He believed new progress would be made in the future with joint efforts from the two sides.

A meeting on combating crime was jointly held by Vietnamese and Chinese public security ministries on Friday.

The meeting reviewed the achievements in bilateral cooperation on combating crime, mapped out the principle for future cooperation and some concrete measures to push forward the cooperation.
