South China copes with passenger peak as holiday ends

GUANGZHOU, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- On the last day of the week-long Spring Festival holiday, south China's Guangdong province, a destination for migrant workers, saw a new passenger peak.

On Saturday, Guangzhou Railway Station received about 200,000 passengers, in addition to some 112,000 in the Guangzhou East Railway Station.

In Shenzhen, the number of passengers reached 65,000, while manufacturing city Dongguan saw 76,000.

In terms of flight, the Shenzhen Airlines carried more than 10,000 passengers on Saturday, as dozens of flights were mostly full. More flights were added temporarily to Wuhan, Changsha, Nanchang in central and east China and Harbin in the northeastern Heilongjiang Province.
