PYONGYANG, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The Education Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang jointly held a ceremony here Monday to celebrate China's Youth Day.

At the China Day ceremony at Kim Il Sung University, Chinese students in the DPRK and DPRK students majoring in Chinese gave performances, including singing songs and playing a Chinese idiom guessing game.

Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming, who attended the ceremony, said both China and the DPRK value the exchanges between the younger generation of the two countries during the China-DPRK Friendship Year.

Liu hoped that students from the two countries could further their friendship and know each other better through this event.

Han Kui Sam, head of the foreign affairs bureau of the Education Ministry, said the DPRK people know the May Fourth Movement very well. Han hoped this event would help deepen the understanding and friendship between the people and the educational institutions of the two countries.
