China's top lawmaker winds up European tour

VENICE, Italy, May 24 (Xinhua) -- China's top lawmaker Wu Bangguo left Venice for home Sunday afternoon, concluding his European tour that took him to Russia, Austria and Italy.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), visited Milan, Rome and Florence during his stay in Italy, and met with President Giorgio Napolitano, Premier Silvio Berlusconi, Senate President Renato Schifani and Chamber of Deputies President Gianfranco Fini.

During the meetings, the two sides agreed to further advance cooperation in both bilateral and international issues.
