One killed in toppled apartment building in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, June 27 (Xinhua) -- One person was trapped in an apartment building toppled in the residential area of Shanghai early Saturday morning.

The accident happened at about 6 a.m., when a 13-storey building in the "lotus riverside" neighborhood of Minxing district which was under construction, fell down entirely.

No casualties were reported yet. But a worker, who was said to have gone into the building to fetch his tools, was trapped inside.

Xinhua reporter saw five police vehicles and one ambulance parking near the site as rescue work was underway.

Cause of the accident is under investigation.
