Collision of van, cargo train kills one in north China

SHIJIAZHUANG, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- A van collided with a cargo train Friday, left one person dead and one injured in north China's Hebei Province, local officials said.

The accident occurred at about 4 a.m. when the van carrying construction materials and the train loaded with coal crashed, at the intersection of the No. 205 National Highway and a railway in Huanghua city, said a spokesman with the municipal government.

One person in the van died at the scene and one injured was rushed to hospital, the spokesman said.

By 1:30 p.m., the site had been cleaned and the traffic resumed, he said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
