BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The public security bureau of southeast China's Fujian Province handed a Taiwanese criminal over to the island's police authorities Wednesday, a statement from the mainland-based Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, or Cabinet, said.

Taking place in the provincial capital Xiamen, it was the first transfer of its kind and was in line with the agreement concerning humanitarianism-based cross-Strait criminal transfers, the statement said.

The statement said the criminal, Fung Lik-hsin, was seriously ill.
