Hu honors outstanding military units, one individual

BEIJING -- Chinese President Hu Jintao, also Chairman of the Central Military Commission, signed an order Monday to honor three units and one individual for their outstanding military service.

The 60th detachment of the No. 66150 troop received the "Model Battalion for Rescue and Relief" honor for "brilliantly" completing seven rescue missions in China and seven rescue missions overseas, including peacekeeping duties in Liberia.

The unit also participated in security work for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Beijing Paralympic Games and the 2009 National Day parade.

"The Model Battalion for Party Branch Construction" went to the 66th detachment of the No. 71332 troop for "resolutely and loyally" following the Party's instructions.

The 70th detachment of the No. 96263 troop won the "Model Battalion for Military Exercises" honor for their excellent combat skills and daily management.

He Xiangmei, a 29-year-old sergeant from the 73rd unit of the 73653 troop, received the "Model Noncommissioned Officer for Combat Mastery" award for his outstanding skills in shooting, close-quarters combat and field combat.
