Molten iron overflow kills six in east China

NANJING, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Melted iron that spilled over a refining furnace Wednesday morning have left at least six people dead and one injured at the Nanjing Iron and Steel Group Co. Ltd. in east China.

The accident occurred at around 11:45 a.m. when 13 workers at the No.5 furnace were preparing for the shutdown of the furnace, according to the Nanjing city government.

Rescue operation was carried out immediately after the accident, said government sources.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
