9 dead, 4 injured in NE China construction site cave-in

DALIAN, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Nine were killed and four injured in a cave-in accident at a construction site in northeast Liaoning province on Saturday, local authorities said.

The accident occurred at 1:50 p.m. when the concrete ceiling of an underground garage collapsed, crashing down upon 13 workers at a construction site in the port city of Dalian, said a spokesman with the city government.

The injured were rushed to hospital, and their injuries are not life-threatening, said the spokesman.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
