SKOPJE, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu and Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has discussed ways of furthering practical cooperation between the two countries in various sectors.

During their meeting here on Thursday, Hui said China and Macedonia have respected each other, supported each other on major issues, and deepened political mutual trust since the normalization of bilateral relations. China respects the development path of Macedonia, Hui said.

China-Macedonia cooperation has maintained good momentum in recent years and has seen positive progress in various fields, he said. However, pragmatic cooperation between the two countries still has big room for improvement, he added.

Hui expressed the hope that the two sides will make joint efforts, promote people-to-people exchanges at all levels, and implement bilateral agreements so as to turn their good political relationship into tangible results of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

The Chinese side supports its well-established enterprises to invest in Macedonia to expand cooperation in infrastructure, Hui said. China is also ready to promote agricultural technology exchange and make agriculture a new growth point in bilateral cooperation.

For his part, Gruevski said Hui's visit has particular importance in promoting the friendly ties between the two countries and enhancing their economic cooperation.

He spoke highly of China's path of development and China's contribution to peace in Asia and the world. He also thanked China's continued support for Macedonia.

The Macedonian side is happy with the progress made in its political and economic relations with China, Gruevski said.

Despite today's unfavorable world economic situation, Macedonia's economic cooperation with China will bring tangible benefits to both countries, said the prime minister.

The two countries have broad prospects for cooperation in such fields as agriculture, hydro-power, infrastructure, education and tourism, he added.

Macedonia welcomes Chinese investment and is actively improving its investment environment, Gruevski said.
